Illustration Friday -- Speed

Here is my submission for this week's Illustration Friday theme -- Speed. I drew a pile of white crosses. The term "white cross" is one of the street names for Metamphetamines, aka, speed. I figured I would try a different approach since there will be all kinds of cars, animals, and cartoon characters for this theme. Posted by Picasa

Well done. I 've looked through your other drawings, and I really really like them. Keep drawing every day won't you!

Lee: Thanks! I was hoping people would find it humorous.

Melanie: Thanks for the compliment.

Princess: Thanks and just to reassure you, I don't do that bad stuff or any other drug for that matter.

Marie-dom: Thanks. I like to try to do something everyday. It relaxes me and keeps me sharp.

Thanks to all for visiting and leaving your comments!

Good job. I had thought about doing something like that until I happened on the traffic thing.

Some nasty stuff too--I thought about this at first. Great drawing and bold take on the subject Lou.

I like the way your mind works and I'm glad your creativity hasn't been stifled by political correctness :p

Interesting thought, and excellent drawing. I find it hard to draw round things and get them right; you've done it very well.

Sioux: I enjoyed yours, as well. Nice take on it.

Steve: Thanks for the compliment. I felt that I had to go for it this week.

Vern: My mind can be scary sometimes. I also try to push the envelope when I can.

Ottoblotto: Thanks! Some of my first art classes were drafting and we had to do many 3-d objects such as canned goods, gears, and cups. Seeing round objects becoming ovals as the angles changed helped with these types of drawings.

Thanks to each of you for visiting and leaving your comments.

Hey thats the first thing I thought of when I thought of speed too, very nice!

I thought about it too, but I've never seen it in tablet form....too many memories of art school days;)
Good drawing though, but I really like the illustration of your 'Flash Drive'.

I like your illustration of speed, direct, to the point very sharp work.

Thanks for your comment, they're suppost to be state troopers, she's been been using all kinds of speed, the car kind, the living kin-fast, the more direct, sad kind, that you have depicted so fine with your illo.

Good take on the theme and excellent draftsmanship. This stuff was big when I was in high school (so many decades ago) and seems to be hugely popular now.

Rectite23: Thanks for the compliment. I was trying to think outside the box.

BlackCrow: Maybe it's an old school form, but when I was in high school, this was a very popular form. Very easy to hide in aspirin bottles -- so I've heard.

Thanks for the compliment and glad to hear you liked the 'Flash Drive.'

HARDWAX: Yes, it is very direct. I did not want this to be too wishy-washy.

BTW, sorry for the misinterpretation of your work. I still love it and still feel it to be emotional.

Twisselman: Thanks for the compliment. Funny how things work in cycles like that, even drugs.

Thanks to everyone for stopping by and leaving your comments.

I'm surprised that this is the first illo I've seen to do this. I would have thought there'd be lots more. I like your handling of it, simple and to the point.

Good idea. I thought about that, but not knowing anything about it, gave up. ANd if it's not a gecko, what is it?

Nice drawing! Ah yes, the truckers little friend. I haven't seen a pile of those since my last cross country ramble haulin' a load of frozen banquet chicken dinners.

Shano said...

LOL Too funny. I always wondered exactly WHAT the cross tops were.

Lou said...

Fluff: Must be great minds. They say they always think alike. ;)

Aravis: I'm sort of surprised, but pleased, that more people did not take this route. I'm glad to hear that it was done tastefully.

Andrea: I'm not saying that I am an expert in these by any means. I just happen to know what they are and a little about what they do. Since you asked, it's a race runner. A lizard that can reach speeds of 18 mph with just a 4 inch body (up to 12 if you count the tail).

Large Art: ... And college kids during finals. Hope your trip didn't end with them sprawled out along the highway. :)

Shano: Yup. Just a little white pill with the "X" or "+" on the top. A couple of these and you can go all night or a couple of days. Dangerous stuff.

Thanks to everyone for stopping by and leaving the kind comments.
