Illustration Friday -- Spring
When I saw this topic, I was like, "What can I do? There are so many possibilities. How can I narrow it down to one that fits my drawing style?" My first idea was a clock "springing" forward on a March calendar.
Last night before I went to bed, I drew a real rough draft to get the concept on paper. This morning, I planned on working on the version for IF. I started drawing the clock, however, it didn't feel right. At that point, Father Time popped into my head. After I had him done, I wondered if this expressed Spring enough. I felt it needed something else; hence, the addition of Mother Nature next to him.
I am submitting the pencil drawing. I am debating on whether I should ink it and color. I may play around with it and see what happens. If it looks good, I may post that version.

Cute idea. I'd like to see the color version too.
I really like these two - I just finished watching Lord of the Rings on TV so they kinda remind me of the hobbits :)
Like Donna, I want to see colour too!
Oh I loved the idea of the clock! I am a real clock - alive clock - fan! Do it in colour! Why not? Will Mother Nature be green?
Good idea. I like their expressions. Even though I know that Mother Nature's a real b*tch...when it comes to all of her pollen and all that other crap that plugs up my sinuses. Father Time's no saint, he's kind of a jerk...in fact, he JUST stole an hour of my sleeptime! I'll spring forward and clean his clock!!! Wow man, I think you just helped me decide my IF illo! Thanks for the rant. Good on ya!
Oh, where was I? Nice illo...you really should ink them & throw some color about. See what comes of it.
Donna: Thanks for commenting and stay tuned for a color version. I've been working on it.
Vern: Now that you mention LOTR, I have to agree that they do sort of have that feel. Especially, Father Time. He seems to have a Gandalf look to him. Mother Nature sort of has a hobbit look to her.
String: Thanks. The clock is a very good idea, but I think I like this one better, especially after revisiting my rough draft of the clock on the calendar.
Trevor: I agree that they can be real pains. Maybe the looks on their faces are of satisfaction due to causing such discomforts with people. Glad I helped you think of an idea for IF. Look forward to seeing it!
I'm glad you went with this. Not that a clock with time leaping forward isn't a cool idea. I like your pencil sketch, but since it is spring, the color version is especially fun to look at.
Hardwax: I'm glad I went with this one also. Maybe I'll save the other idea for another Illustration Friday.
Thanks for stopping by!
