Illustration Friday -- Tattoo

I could have used my Blogger avatar since I designed the tattoo on my leg in that picture. However, I wanted to challenge myself and create something new. My problem was that I couldn't think of what to draw.

Then it hit me. Why not do the tattoo that I have always wanted. Here is what has been floating around in my head for the past 10+ years. Posted by Picasa

Thanks, unknown, for the visit and love.

I guess now that I have it on paper and no longer just in my head, I have no excuse. Maybe I'll just have to get it.

wow. my guess is the giant lizard is yours? this illustration friday was right up your alley. now it's motivated you to add another tatoo. good luck if you decide. nice work.

Yes, that is my work. It was supposed to be colored in green and purple, but I never went back to get it finished.

Thanks for visiting and the compliment.

Go for it! Get that tattoo on your arm! It is a wonderful design! Great illustration!

Thanks, catraven!

I guess I need to decide on a place to get it and whether it will look as good on me since my arm no longer looks that tone.

cool illustration and it would be a great tattoo! don't worry about your arm, the tattoo will make your arm look buff!

Thanks for dropping by and commenting, Michael. With all these "just get it" comments, I feel obligated now to go out and get it. Maybe this will happen sooner than later.

Shano,

Glad you like it. I guess once I get it, I'll have to post a real picture up.

Joe,

Glad to hear your grandson has good taste. ;)

Thanks to both of you for stopping by.

Hmmm... Cobra hoods? A bunch of linked Ms? Very interesting.

Lou said...

Very interesting interpretation. Honestly, I'm not sure if they are cobra hoods, interlinked M's or something else. It was just a cool symbol that was in my head and I thought it would be a cool tattoo. At one time it was an individual tattoo that morphed into an arm wrap.

Thanks for stopping by.

That's a really strong image...does it have a special significance beyond its design? And...are you ever going to get it done?

Elia,

Glad you liked this one and have enjoyed my other work. I hope you equally enjoy any new work that I post.

BTW, you're quite welcome for leaving the comment. I thought yours was a great illustration.

Carla,

It was a design I thought about around the time I got my first and currently only tattoo (1993). I was thinking of getting it on my arm or chest when I went back to get my leg colored in.

Well, time went by. I never went back to get my leg colored and therefore, I never got the other tattoo.

In a way, I'm glad. Because now this week's Illustration Friday caused me to think about it again and evolve it from a single shape to a string of inter-linking ones.

As far as getting it done, I'm thinking soon. So it is completely healed in time for short sleeve weather.

Thanks for stopping by.

Go for it, bro! It's definitely a cool tattoo!! and to answer your question about the tattoo art I posted, the collage was inspired by henna tattoos which are temporary... so yes, I would definitely go that route, I think they last about three weeks. but permanent? I don't know if I could commit myself to a design for the rest of my life -- I am too fickle!! I always wanted one, but could never decide what I wanted :)

Mel,

Thanks for stopping by. I can understand your hesitance on getting anything permanent. The Henna Tattoos seem like a logical way to go. Who knows, maybe you may find a design you would want forever.
