Illustration Friday -- Rain

I was originally going to do something with a line from my favorite movie for this week's Illustration Friday's theme, "Rain." The quote, "It can't rain all the time," is from the movie 'The Crow.' There is just something about that movie that I still enjoy to this day. However, I could not think of anything that would do the movie or quote justice.

Then I read Cathie's recent post "Confetti" and instantly knew this is what I would draw. Below is a snippet of our back yard after a recent rain storm. Branches, leaves and daisy petals "littered" the back patio.

BTW, sorry I haven't been around much. Work has become very busy. Also, working on some "art" projects at home. I've been painting our bedroom and getting ready to paint the boys bedrooms in August when they are away at their Grandparents. I should also apologize if I am not around much in the future as well. Classes start Monday, so, I'll have yet another thing on my plate to keep me busy.

Here is something that I worked on this morning while playing around with my tablet. This one goes back some to my original concept somewhat.

Yes we get the same thing, patios, rain, twigs and leaves are cousins I think. Love the simple, playful look at this little snippet of a rainy day nuisance. Good stuff, lots of fun!

Nature's aftermath- and the worms! Don't forget the worms!

Hadwax: Definately relatives and storms are the family reunion.

Tony: OMG! How could I have forgotten them. Especially since I stepped on one when I took the dogs out friday night.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Jane Siberry's song is so poignant...I like both pics, but especially the 2nd as I think it captures the song perfectly!

Catraven: They are defiant little buggers, aren't they. I can't believe that all my plantings have survived.

VK: I agree. Her voice is perfect for that song and enhances the feeling from the words.

Arvindh: Thanks!

At first I thought this was a pool with all of that debri, that could really mess up a filter! The rain doesn't get me down, it's the wind that gets to me too!

Good stuff Lou. I like the story you're telling with the first illo. The second illo really catches my eye. I like the graphic qualities you've got going on there. It makes me wonder if you've tracked down the lil mysterious guy that keeps crapping on my car every morning.

PS: I know all about painting rooms, I just finished my sister's baby nursery...I'll post pics sometime tonight, you should stop by & lemme know what you think. Cheers!
