Art of a Different Kind

When I took the dogs out to do their business the other night, I had an interesting surprise at the doorway of their kennel. A spider had spun a web across the opening. Luckily, it was high enough that the dogs did not disturb it when they entered it and I could sneak under it in order to get this picture.

I really like spiders particularly because of their webs. Most of it is due to the fact that I am fascinated by fractals, especially those found in nature.

It's amazing--these webs, especially when they weave them so wide. I almost feel bad when I accidently walk through a web sometimes.

I'm fascinated by the webs, but can't stand the spiders!

Steve: The really cool thing is that I was out there about an hour before and it was not there. And yes, walking through them is not fun.

Lee: Thanks. It was beautiful and scary because it is about 26 inches wide by about 30 inches tall. The spider was about an inch. I know nothing about spiders byut it looked to be a reddish color. Hope it wasn't deadly. At any rate, the web was completely gone by morning. I'm glad I decided to take a picture then rather than wait until morning.

Debr: I love the webs, too. As far as the spiders, as long as they don't bother me, I try not to bother them. It's just that this guys was eye level.

Thanks to all of you for the comments.

i was told once that if you mist the web lightly with water before taking a picture they really glimmer ... never actually tried it though.
